About Purposely Digital
Technology can be helpful, but it has also made the world more overwhelming.
Louder. Faster.
We carry smartphones that buzz with notifications.
We have instant access to news all over the world.
We are always connected by social media and messaging.
And so much more.
Thriving Sensitive
"Sensitive" is often a dirty word. And yet, humans are innately sensitive beings.
All humans possess sensitivity to their environment - including emotions, sound, light, smell. Some humans - such as neurodivergent or highly sensitive people - live life with "the dial turned up" more than others.
For all of us, though, modern living with digital technologies - smartphones, social media, computers, AI - can overload our senses and scatter our attention. Living a life with intention has become increasingly challenging.
Empowering Human Sensitivity
Purposely Digital empowers clients to embrace sensitivity and thrive in a noisy digital world.
Hi! I'm Sarah - coach, digital ethics expert, and founder of Purposely digital. Through coaching, mentoring, and consulting, I work with individuals and business to thrive - sensitively, purposely - in the digital age.
As a coach, I empower individuals to reclaim their inherent sensitivity, connect with their core values, and step into thriving modern lives despite today's digital noise.
As a mentor and business consultant, I provide digital ethics guidance, workshops, and lectures so individuals and business have the information they need to engage intentionally with technology.
Meet Sarah
Purposely Digital was founded by Sarah E. Carter PhD, a digital ethicist and coach
Hello! Sarah here.
My journey into life coaching began with slowing down. In 2024, I suffered burnout and life came to a halt. Going from fast to slow allowed me to rediscover and deeply respect being a sensitive human.
I've always been sensitive - to emotions, to noise, to touch, any stimulation. It comes with challenges, but also with gifts - performing music emotionally, knowing how to respond to a friend in need, deep empathy, and a profound connection to nature.
And yet, "being sensitive" is not viewed as a positive in a world that is less interested in slowing down and going deep than in speed and increasing productivity.
Recent technological advances push the gas pedal even harder. Smartphones connect us, but also inundate us with notifications. Social media uses emotionally-charged content to keep us scrolling, to the detriment of our psyches. AI automates so we can get from A to B at lightning speed. We are doing, texting, scrolling, prompting, all the time.
Faster, and faster, and faster, and faster.
But at what cost?
During burnout, I took time away from distractions and began a journey towards living my life, and using the technology it comes with, differently. Purposely. Sensitively. Mindfully.
Trained in digital ethics, I understand the impacts technology can have on humans. I worked to design technology that could empower humans to live a life in accordance with their values. However, it has became clear to me that there is only so much we can do on the design end. It starts with us, saying no, saying yes, saying maybe to how we want to use and engage.
I wanted to empower individuals to seize (or leave be) technology as it serves them.
That's where Purposely Digital comes in.
Through coaching, I aim to create a safe and empathetic space for you to reclaim your sensitivity (it's not a dirty word!), slow down and feel fully, explore your personal values, and move toward intentional modern living - living that supports your values, your goals, and your dreams as the wonderful sensitive human you are.
I also offer mentoring and business consulting, providing digital ethics guidance, workshops, and lectures so individuals and business have the information they need to engage intentionally with technology.
Be it via coaching, mentoring, or consulting, I look forward to walking this journey with you.

Testimonials
"I worked with Sarah over the course of a few months in a very challenging moment of my career that was impacting my overall well-being. Sarah guided me with patience through all the steps I needed to get clarity around how I could find again my balance.
I left with a clear path forward and the confidence of having a plan A, plan B and plan C that would bring me back on track and the comfort of knowing that I have options, even if I could not see them on my own.
Thank you Sarah and until next time!"
- Giovanna, Coaching Client
"Sarah has a way of creating a virtual and spiritual space where it feels safe for me to examine my deep held assumptions and to grow beyond them. Her high intellectual and emotional intelligence as well as presence with you in the sessions is a powerful catalyst for insight and growth. Sarah's experience as an international gives her a unique insight into the experience of trying to find your space in an new or changing societal and social environment.
Among other valuable insights, her gentle but challenging questions helped me accept my neurodiversity and to identify practical strategies to work with rather than against my neurodiversity. I'm deeply grateful for having met Sarah at this time in my professional and personal journey."
- Christine, Coaching Client
"Sarah has a special quality as a Coach that is rare to find.
Something I shared with Sarah during our mentoring is her ‘secret sauce’; her strong, authentic presence coupled with a natural empathy for her clients.
Sarah’s approach allows clients to gain focus and clarity whilst bringing curiosity to help clients gain more self-awareness and insights.
I am sure that Sarah’s secret sauce will bring clarity, compassion and peace to many more humans to come."
- Mehibe, Coach Mentor at Become Coaching and Training
Coaching with Sarah made me feel seen and heard. She took my suggestions and concerns seriously and looked for ways to improve her approach to fit my needs with every session. Working on my values was incredibly helpful and I enjoyed the way she guided me a lot more than with previous coaches.
We also always do a grounding exercise before we get into the session, she provides lots of options to choose from and it helps me stay present and focus on myself. I love that the coaching style is more about me than her, the thoughtful questions give me space to dig deeper or see things from a different perspective and I enjoy it more than what I thought coaching was like before - it feels so much more empowering!
She also provides summaries after every session and it’s a great way to look back on what was discussed and continue to reflect on the topics.
